Why rotate my boots and take the insoles out?
Your Chisos boots are built with leather soles, leather insoles, a leather lining, leather vamps and shafts, and other leather interior parts. Leather is resilient, pliable, and durable. But it doesn't love water and salt.
When you wear your boots hard, you are likely going to sweat inside of them. This is expected and part of the normal wear pattern. This also helps the heel counter and insole leathers mold to your unique foot shape. However, too much moisture for too long can reduce the lifespan of your boots.
A little easy procedure can alleviate this problem:
- At night, take out your Chisos removable comfort insoles and sit them vertically in the boot. This allows airflow to get down into the boots and dry them out.
- Every couple of days, take a day off to give your boots a full 24 hours to dry.
- And once every three months or so, remove the comfort insoles and tap a little talcum powder inside. Then put the insoles back in. This helps absorb moisture and offset the salt effects.
Just a little daily tip to help make your boots last for years and years to come!
